FAQs
How will the park plan and design be developed?
The park plan and design will be guided by community feedback through an online survey opening November 12, 2025.
What amenities will the park include?
The park will include a new playground, a flexible open lawn, walking trails, gathering areas and other amenities based on site constraints and community feedback. A sports court or bike pump track may also be considered as planning progresses.
How will the park design affect the creek and trees?
The site has a creek and many mature trees. The design will protect the creek and keep as many healthy trees as possible. Some trees may need to be removed for safety or design reasons, but keeping the natural areas is an important goal.
How will safety requirements for the Trans Mountain Pipeline be included in the park plan?
Safety is a top priority. The design will follow all pipeline regulations and include features that make the park safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for visitors.
When will the park be completed?
The park will be completed in two phases, with the goal of opening a portion for resident use in 2026, with the remainder likely to open in 2027.
What will happen to the houses currently at the park?
The City purchased the lots from landowners with the intention of the land becoming a park per the Abbey Ridge LAP. The City was renting the homes and provided notice to the tenants in advance of the start of the park project. Tenants have now moved out of the houses and they will be demolished over the coming months.
