How will the park plan and design be developed?

The park plan and design will be guided by community feedback through an online survey and an open house on August 13 from 4-6 pm.

What amenities are already planned for the park?

The park will include a full-size, fenced multi-sport court with basketball, hockey, and soccer nets, a new playground, and a pilot leash-optional path under the hydro right-of-way. Additional amenities will also be included based on feedback from the community.

    What is a multi-sport court?

A multi-sport court is a shared-use court that supports multiple sports typically including basketball, and ball hockey. These courts are often marked with multiple sets of lines and equipped with adaptable features like hoops, nets, and goals to support different games. There are examples of these courts across Surrey including Edgewood Park and Hawthorne Park.

Why was this neighbourhood chosen for a multi-sport court?

According to the City's Sport Court Strategy, this neighbourhood has been identified as a priority area for a multi-sport court. The strategy highlights the specific need for basketball for the community which will be included in the court.

What is the pilot leash-optional path?

The pilot leash-optional path will utilize the utility right-of-way, which would otherwise not be able to hold active amenities due to overhead powerlines. The path will be fence-lined but not gated. The path will be available for the use of dog owners, and non-dog owners. This pilot will allow users to provide feedback to the city based on the new style of dog amenity. Signage will be posted onsite.

When will the park be completed?

The park will be designed and executed in two phases, with the goal of opening a portion for resident use in summer 2026, with the remainder likely to open in summer 2027.

What’s the status of the greenway north of the park, and when will it be connected to McLeod Park?

The greenway is part of a long-term vision for the City’s greenway network. At this time, the City of Surrey does not own the land required to complete this section of the greenway. The exact timeline of development is unknown, but your interest and input are appreciated and will be valuable when planning does move forward.
