Transcript - Local resident paddles the Nicomekl River along the future park
I'm Nicole, a resident of the area, and this is where I call home. I often wake up in the morning thinking about my paddle on the river. The quiet, the connection to nature, it's one of the most beautiful spots in Surrey, there's no other place like it. Paddling is a sport I got into about 5 years ago. I started at Crescent Beach and worked my way into the Nicomekl. The river is a gem as it's not heavily used and is surrounded by woods, meadows, birds and sometimes you'll spot the odd sea creature. The Nicomekl project is a dream come true. It's something I didn't know was being worked on but have been hoping for a launch point in the area. What I'd like to see is ongoing conservation and preservation of the area while also encouraging an active lifestyle. It would be great to paddle along and see neighbours active in nature. I want others to experience the power of the river, the fresh air, the sounds, the trails and hopefully one day soon have an accessible point of entry for kayakers, canoers, and paddle boarders.
