FAQs
How will the park plan and design be developed?
The park plan and design will be guided by community feedback through an online survey opening November 13 and an open house on November 26 from 5:30 - 7:30pm.
What is going to happen with trees in the park?
Environmental specialists are reviewing the trees on site to help determine protection, removals, and new plantings in the final design.
Will students and the public at Woodward Hill Elementary still be able to access the trail?
The new park will continue to provide walking access for the community. Safety and accessibility will be a top priority idea as we work through the design.
Will there be habitat protection or restoration?
While the site will change as the park is developed, new trees and restored natural areas are being planned to support long-term habitat health for generations to come.
What age group is the park being designed for?
The park will have something for everyone - spaces for younger kids, teens, adults, and seniors.
Is there opportunity for nature play and outdoor learning?
Yes. We’re exploring nature play features and outdoor learning spaces based on community feedback.
What happens to rainwater on the site?
The park will use natural features and planting to absorb rainwater, with specialists guiding the design to make sure it’s environmentally responsible.
What is a multi-sport court?
A multi-sport court is a versatile, shared-use space designed to accommodate several activities—most commonly basketball and ball hockey. These courts feature adaptable equipment such as hoops, nets, and goals, and are marked with multiple sets of lines to support different games within the same space. Examples of multi-sport courts can be found in parks across Surrey, including Edgewood Park and Hawthorne Park.
