Surrey is a city with a strong sports culture

From youth baseball championships to Olympic wrestling gold, new kabaddi fields, and great soccer teams. Surrey’s sports scene brings people together, so creating a Surrey Sports Hall of Fame is an exciting way to honour our past achievements and future dreams.

The Surrey Sports Hall of Fame will celebrate the rich sports heritage and ongoing legacy of Surrey’s active sports communities. There will be programs and exhibits to highlight the accomplishments of athletes, coaches, volunteers, and others involved in sports in Surrey. In the long term, a permanent sports hall of fame is envisioned as part of a future spectator facility. It will help people be proud of their city and encourage everyone to be part of Surrey’s diverse communities.

The Surrey Sports Hall of Fame will recognize people in Surrey who have:

  • Made achievements and contributions to sports
  • Shown leadership or value in sports
  • Had success or made a special contribution to sports outside of being a competitor

The first group of inductees will be announced in 2026.

  • My husband, Ray Edger, pioneered two adult men's baseball leagues. The first in 1989 was the 30+ baseball keague for men in Surrey and Delta. The second league started in 2003 for men 45 years and older. This league featured the Surrey Royales and the Whalley Dodgers and part of the Lower Mainland Baseball Association. (LMBA) He played and coached until he was 74 years old. He is currently 82 years of age, lives in Cloverdale and still has a passion for the game. Is it possible for him to be included in the Surrey Sports Hall of Fame?

Lynda Edger asked 8 days ago
